“For as long as I can remember, I’ve been passionate about video games. It all started when I was around 5, when my mother let me borrow her Sega. Language may have been a challenge back then, yet I sorted it out by playing with a dictionary within reach all the time as soon as I learned how to read (before that, I just drove my mom crazy asking her about every single word that popped up on-screen). Thanks to that, I had the chance to immerse myself in countless worlds filled with fantastic stories and realize that games were pieces of art and that everyone should have access to them. So, when I discovered that I could earn a living working as a game translator and bringing joy to Spanish-speaking gamers around the globe, choosing my career path was a no-brainer… I just took the two areas I love the most and turned them into my profession!”
“‘What came first, your passion for video games or your passion for language?’. Well, I’d say both. The first time I got my hands on a Famiclone, I was absolutely mesmerized by the deceitfully simple yet undeniably alluring fun of its games, and from there on, video games never left my life. While barely understanding the weird and alien language known as ‘English,’ I learned it slowly but surely by associating command or button names with what they did, by insistently asking my elder brother the meaning of certain words, or, later on, by grabbing one of those ancient, paper thingies called ‘dictionaries,’ Unbeknownst to me, I had planted the seed for my vocation. Many years later, after graduating from translation school and already having worked in other translation fields, my story with video games came full circle when I got the chance to get into the world of localization.”
